Many school districts are facing financial problems such as rising fuel costs for buses or paper costs, but a four day school week can be a positive solution. First off, with the school functioning only four days a week, one day worth of electricity and air conditioning (yuup first world problem~) would be saved! Over time that money would accumulate to benefit things to the students or to the staff such as non-ghetto food or supplies for teachers. Paper would also be saved for one day which would benefit the trees that are being sawed away just to supply a school (think of the birds!). Also, the utility bill would be cut down for things like sinks and toilets that use up water would be conserved, which also lower the bill.. aand our human footprint on the world. --while typing this i almost choked on a chocolate chip from my starbucks drink Dx-- Another part of financial savings would be the public transportation that is used to bring the students to and from school. According to this website,BPS school budgets, (i know tis not VBCPS, but its an example) they estimated the cost for transportation to millions of dollars! One day would be cut from that each week with the four day school week.
